Co-Founder & Managing Director
Deepak Shrestha
Deepak joined Nepal’s vibrant tourism industry at the age of 15. Starting out from ground zero in his salaried job, his main responsibilities included itinerary planning and ensuring smooth operations for every trip along the different parts of the Himalayan region. Over the years, due to the requirements of work, Deepak has walked the trails of many well-known treks around Nepal (Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp etc), Tibet (High Mountain Trek Kangshung Face), Sikkim (Gochala Pass and Kanchenjunga Base Camp High Mountain Trek) and summit Mt Kinabalu in Sabah more than six times.
Having gained good exposure in the industry, Deepak set up Divine International Explore and Treks in April 2000 offering visitors and trekkers his expertise in outdoor adventure along the Himalayan region. As a Managing Director, Deepak directs and manages all aspects of the company with a dedicated team of experienced staff. He is firm on one very important principle of the company – Service with Integrity and ensures that all staff are aligned with this motto. This has brought about many repeat businesses from both business partners and clients who have engaged the company’s services. Under his leadership, the company has organized many successful treks and expeditions for international clients from both Europe and Asia.
Coming from a humble background, Deepak believes in continuous learning and has since obtained various qualifications and certifications. They include Advanced Diploma in Travel & Tourism, Trekking/tour guide licenses, Basic, Advance & Sports Rock Climbing CPR, Basic Life Support & First Aid, Physical Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer Physical Fitness Instructor/Personal Trainer. He is also a certified Recreational Aviation Pilot.
In November 2007, Deepak was appointed the Honorary PR (Singapore) of Nepal Tourism Board. He will facilitate the promotion of Nepal as an exciting travel destination with the approach that ‘Nepal is for EVERYONE’.
Operations Manager
Pasang Sherpa
Pasang (Simigaon) has been a critical pillar of support at Divine as both a Partner and Operations Director since 2004. Entering the industry in 1975, Pasang has glorious credentials under his belt leading major expeditions including:
- French National Expedition Dhaulagiri in 1978
- Nepal French Joint Army Expedition Ghasung Khang in 1979
- French Amadablam Expedition in 1982
- French Everest Expedition in 1988
- French-Belgium Joint Expedition in 2003
True to his leadership abilities, Pasang undertakes the role in staff management and directing all trek and expedition related operations. Backed by his experience, he understands the essence of smooth operations in executing a trek or expedition. Hence Pasang exerts very high quality control in briefings, preparations and most of all, customer service.
For the past thirty years, Pasang has brushed shoulders with well known mountain guides, trekkers and tourists from Europe and Asia. Most visited Nepal repeatedly and never failed to still have a cup of Chyaa with Pasang when they are in town.
When asked what kept up his passion for ths industry for so long, he remarked: “You know, once I got a call from a lady in Europe requesting for a trekking itinerary and informing me that she is coming to Nepal. She said her father used to trek with me and she got my contact through him. The phone call made me realise why I had been able to keep on doing what I do. Besides the love for it, it has always been the friendship and heart-warming moments like this that got me going.”
Operations Manager
Dhruba Thakuri
Dhruba officially joined Divine as our Operations Manager in 2007 although his friendship with Deepak dated back almost a decade ago. A robust young man, Dhruba brings to the company the experience and knowledge of 14 years of outdoor life. Since 1994 he has organized & led more than 115 treks including the Annapurna Base Camp, Everest Base Camp, Kanchanjunga Base Camp, Makalu Base Camp, Langtang trek, Gosaikunda, Around Annapurna, Manasolu trek, Rolwaling Trek, Mustang trek,Dolpa Trek etc. Being a certified Tour Guide means he has conducted numerous cultural tours and kept a wide network of friends all around the world.
Druba came from a remote village in Nepal and is acutely aware of the dire needs of the less privileged community. He is always at the forefront to lend a helping hand when the call for social work arises such as installing drinking water system or building bio-gas system in the remote areas of Nepal. With his immense experience, Dhruba now plans and executes community service projects undertaken by Divine in our desire to help the less-privileged.
Never a complacent person, he constantly seeks to upgrade himself through various trainings and certifications.
Dhruba is currently pursuing Masters in Arts at the Tibhuvan University and is looking forward to his graduation.

The management team is supported by a team of admin staff, professional guides, cooks and logistic runners. Our in-house team is made up of experienced staff committed to deliver high quality of service and pride themselves in being old hands at leading successful treks and expeditions. Our porters are expert at lifting your loads while you trek or climb. Our cooks ensure you maintain a hearty appetite with their tantalizing menu spread.
It is crucial for a professional guide to have a sense of leadership, be responsible and alert as well as take initiative to ensure a smooth journey for the entire team. For years, repeated clients have requested for the same staff or team to lead them as they explore new treks year after year. This attests to our team’s high level of commitment at work and humility to serve.
Over the years, we have also built a network of reliable city guides who understand the level of service we strive to uphold till today. We only engage licensed guides who are knowledgeable in their own rights and able to share rare insights of the country or city or even funny anecdotes here and there. All these with the objective of making each experience a delightful one and certainly a memorable one for everyone.
