Overview
As an extension to our travel services, Divine International also provides outdoor education programs to secondary schools, colleges and tertiary institutions. Leveraging on our network and connections, we partner with relevant associations and authorities to explore and plan programs aimed to develop people's potential through outdoor education and adventure. We also organise and facilitate community service programs as part of the requirements of a school’s cirriculum and fulfill the needs of the local village schools at the same time.
Objectives
Our main objective is to provide the teachers and students with a wider knowledge of the culture, custom and life style of the different ethnic groups of people in different part of the himalayan countries.
They get to experience for themselves the different way of lives lived in this part of the world. This would enable everyone to make a comparative evaluation of his or her own lifestyle.
We encourage everyone to take a step out of their comfort zone and instill in them a sense of adventure. By participating in outdoor adventure activities, they gain the opportunity to enjoy the experience nature and enhance the mental and physical toughness. By traveling as a team, students inherently develop tolerance amongst their peers, endurance in conquering the valleys and mountain terrain, team spirit and resourcefulness and not forgetting building up their resilience, determination and naturally their physical fitness. By involving themselves in community service projects, students come face to face with the reality of the world out there and learn to truly appreciate what they have back home and not to take things for granted.
Above all, these trips take both teachers and students out of their classroom environment and are indeed very unique bonding sessions. Students returned with a greater awareness of the difference between their needs and wants. Teachers gained a better perspective of their students and often learn to innovate on their teaching methods thereafter.
Our Programs
Broad categories of activities that we recommend to schools include:
- Community Service
- Trekking
- Peak Climbing
- Mountain Expedition
- Whitewater Kayaking Expedition
Currently we are well equipped to run programs for schools in Nepal and Sikkim. We do have tried and tested itineraries that serve as good case studies for the un-initiated. Mostly we initiate discussions with schools so we can customise the programs to meet the objectives and fit in a suitable schedule and budget.
All our programs are created with the aim of providing an enriching and meaningful hands-on experience for the students. Hence, we focus on five aspects in their journey with us:
- Cultural Exchange
- Teamwork
- Structured Program
- Skill Development
- Field Work
You can contact us for more information and we would be happy to follow up with a presentation.
Are the activities safe?
As with any outdoor activities, we cannot dismiss the element of risk that comes along with it. Safety is always our top concern and this is one aspect we do not compromise on our program. All the staff at Divine are trained and equipped to run the programs and look after the students’ needs. Each of us takes pesonal responsibility to ensure the well being of every group that we handle to our best ability. In events of any mishap or injuries, we work very closely as a team and tap on every possible resource to resolve the situation, whichever is the most efficient and effective.
What we have achieved
Over the years, many groups and individuals have contributed their time and effort to bring about the wonderful transformation in our local schools through the community service projects.
